list of Sheriff candidates gets bigger. As the pool of applicants becomes large not many candidates have Raul's experience in Police work. Recently Raul has expressed an interest in debating the other candidates with not much luck. Team Fernandez 08, encourages a debate for the citizens of Hendry to make a clear choice for Sheriff.

I find it quite interesting that your "address" is a box at the UPS Store in LaBelle and not an actual residence. Of course that is because you live in Miami Gardens now after leaving the Lee County Sheriff's Office to take a higher paying position. The rest of the candidates actually live here yet just a few months ago you moved from Lehigh to Miami Gardens, does that mean you'll live there IF you are elected?
Concerned,
Good? But remember the Presidential candidates don't live in D.C. But we vote them into office anyway and give them their chance. I remember hearing years ago in Cape Coral. There Chief was hired and he was from Miami and didn't move to Cape Coral till he was hired. The city went after experience and someone qualified to perform the dudies. If you and I don't like Mr. Fernandez in four years at least we gave him a chance.
I find it quite interesting also, that most of the Hendry County Deputies do not even live in Hendry....
Some of the deputies may not live in Hendry County but they are not the one looking to be elected as Sheriff. There is a large percentage of the staff of the HCSO that do live in Hendry County and many within the City of LaBelle. If you do not live in a community and don't refer to it as your own then how can people believe that you have their best interests at heart.
Mr. or Mrs. Concern,
Again thank you for dropping in and looking into the great advances that Team Fernandez has made throughout Hendry County .
To answer your question yes, I did leave the Lee County Sheriff’s Office and I’m currently working for the Miami Gardens Police Department but not for the reasons that you mentioned.
The Sheriff of Lee County, Mike Scott is a good friend and is a man that I admire and enjoyed working for. So, out of respect to him and the office that he holds my advisors and I decided that it would be best that I resign in order not to cause any hardship to Sheriff Scott and to proceed with my campaign.
Yes, I will be moving into Hendry County in December 2008 right after I WIN the general election and become the next Sheriff of Hendry County. Yes, I have a PO Box in Labelle that is because I’m in Labelle about 3 to 4 days a week and some of the members of TEAM FERNANDEZ live in Labelle and don’t think for security reasons campaign mail should go to a residence.
Some citizens say that I’m not from Hendry County and wonder if they should vote for me. Well let me assure you that I am the best choice for the citizens and will respect the traditions and way of life that makes Hendry County a very unique and special place to live, work and play.
One of the other candidates stated to me about a year ago that he will win because he is from Clewiston. When he was asked about his qualifications he stated that it was not an issue that he will win based on his home town status. I ask; should the people vote for a proven leader or vote for a person with limited experience just because he or she is from Clewiston?
I have learned from speaking to many citizens throughout Hendry County that the traditional method of selecting a leader is a thing of the past. Furthermore, the citizens are ready for a new leader regardless of where that person grew up.
Many have expressed the desire of having a professional Law Enforcement agency and they are ready for change and real leadership. Unlike other candidates, I believe in the citizens and they will make the right choice for the betterment of Hendry County .
When a citizen given the POWER to vote for the next Sheriff it means that you want to give the safety and welfare of your family and friends to that particular candidate. So I ask; do you want to hire a person who has no proven commanding back ground or some one as my self that has the proven experience to hold the office of Sheriff and represent the people of Hendry County with pride honor and integrity?
I encourage all the citizens to look at the background of all the candidate’s for Sheriff and then decide who the BEST qualified and prepared to lead is your Sheriff’s Department. Remember when you vote you are hiring someone who can lead a group of Law Enforcement Professionals that will provide you with highest quality of protection and service available.
Mr. or Ms. Concern here our some tips that are used by Law Enforcement agencies throughout the nation when choosing and deciding on a Law Enforcement LEADER this might help you and other citizens in making this very important and crucial decision.
What is the candidates experience in Leading?
Does the candidate have the capacity to create and have future visions on how to guide the agency into the right direction?
Can the candidate except new challenges in a world that is constantly changing especially when it comes to security? (Remember 911)
Can a candidate be OPEN to constructive and sometimes negative criticism?
Can a candidate except NEW ideas form those professionals that he/she leads?
Does the candidate have the EXPERIENCE and WILLINGNESS to take responsibility?
Does the candidate have the ability to hire and promote the right individual in order to best serve the citizens that they serve?
Does the candidate have the ability to do proper problem solving analyses with his/her staff and attack the problem by coming up with (1) an immediate solution and (2) a long term and possibly a permanent solution?
Does the candidate have the EXPERIENCE, MENTAL TOUGHNESS, to deal with critical incidents such as school shootings, riots, police involved shootings, police corruption, jail escapes etc.?
Does the candidate have the COMMUNICATION and LISTENING skills that are needed to be an effective leader?
Can the candidate provide an environment for the men and women that he/she commands so that they may succeed ; example create a fair hiring and promotional practices, provide equipment , advance police training, provide resources such as SWAT and victim services, create a mentoring program to identify future leaders so that citizens get the highest service possible?
In closing this is a very important year for our nation is one of change and new opportunities I firmly believe that citizens of Hendry County are ready for a Sheriff that is professional, experience and knows how to lead regardless of were is from.
“Blessed is the nation whose GOD is the lord”
PSALM 33:12
God Bless You and ALL the citizens of Hendry County , and as always I am looking forward to serve as your NEXT Sheriff along side of the men and women of the Hendry County Sheriff’s Office.
